Career Opportunity – Lunda Park Maintenance Technician

The City of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, is accepting applications to fill the position of Lunda Park Maintenance Technician.  The Lunda Park Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance operations of the 43-acre Lunda Community Park 8 months of the year.  The 4 winter months will consist of equipment maintenance and maintenance of city-wide winter recreation functions. The City of Black River Falls and the immediate surrounding area has a population of approximately 5,000.

Responsibilities include managing landscape beds, ornamental shrubs and plants, tree care, retaining wall maintenance, turf management, basic equipment repair and maintenance.  The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining winter recreation functions such as outdoor ice rinks, plowing of the foundation trail and grooming cross country ski trails.

The Lunda Park Maintenance Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, Commercial Driver License (CDL) endorsement preferred, certification in playground safety preferred, and have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of park maintenance and/or landscape management.  Preference will be given to an individual with an Associate’s Degree or higher in RPLS (recreation, park and leisure studies), Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Management or related field.  The ideal candidate for this position should also have at least 1-2 years of experience in one or more of the aforementioned areas.
